From small and inadequate facilities to dream come true expansion: Building for Good is building a dream for Massachusetts home for women and families in need.

For over forty years, the Elizabeth Stone House has helped women traumatized by domestic violence, mental illness, and substance abuse build confidence, learn skills, and gain access to resources they need to live competently, independently, and safely with their children.  The ESH focuses on helping these families and individuals find safety, permanent housing, and personal and financial stability.

With B4G’s help, the ESH is moving forward with construction of a brand-new facility to quadruple the number of clients served each year.

The ESH will now be able to provide affordable housing, support services, and therapeutic childcare for over 2,000 clients a year when they move, up from 500 a year in their previous facility.  In its new home, the ESH will provide housing and shelter for 170 adults and children each year, from 95 previously, approximately 520 hours of childcare per week, from 82 hours previously, and classes and support groups for up to 150 participant hours per week, from 50 hours previously.

Our Building for Good volunteer lawyers are making all the difference in helping to make our new facility become a reality—to serve homeless women and their children.
